2016 Happy Father's Day:

Fathers Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. Many countries celebrate it on the third Sunday of June, though it is also celebrated widely on other days by many other countries.

 

History of Father's Day

First observance of a "Father's Day" was held on July 5, 1908 .

Scholars believe that the origin of Father's Day is not a new. Rather they claim that the tradition of Father's Day can be traced in the ruins of Babylon. They have recorded that a young boy called Elmesu carved a Father's Day message on a card made out of clay nearly  4,000 years ago. Elmesu wished his Babylonian father good health and a long life. Though there is no record of what happened to Elmesu and his father but the tradition of celebrating Father's Day remained in several countries all over the world.

USA History of Fathers Day

First time Fathers Day celebration held in USA  in 1910 and after that the tradition of Fathers Day celebration is spread  all over the world.

Sonora Smart Dodd,celebrate first time  Father's Day in Spokane, Washington, at the YMCA .Her father, the civil war veteran William Jackson Smart.  She got idea about the fathers day after  hearing a Mother's Day in 1909 .She thought that for honoring  fathers  have a similar holiday .Initially she suggested June 5, her father's birthday as  a fathers day . Several local accepted the idea for fathers day celebrations, and on June 19, 1910, the first Father's Day, "sermons honoring fathers were presented throughout the city.
